17 Authors to Visit Palestine for Lit Fest

Seventeen international authors will visit Palestine for the Palestine Lit Fest, including Mourid Barghouti, Roddy Doyle, Suheir Hammad, Nathalie Handal, Claire Messud, Pankaj Mishra, Andrew O'Hagan, Hanan al-Shaykh, and Ahdaf Soueif. From the press release: "In solidarity with the Palestinian people. In recognition of Palestine's cultural contribution to the world. And maybe a partial antidote to this -- an array of high-profile authors (including Russell Banks, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Nicole Krauss from the US) are going to the International Lit Festival in West Jerusalem next week in the midst of "Israel 60" celebrations.

So there's a boycott being organized, as well as info on writing to the authors to ask them not to go -- here's info on it from the Alternative Information Center:
